Upgrading XAMP 3.2.4 to 8.1.2

Hello,

A long time ago, I got to install XAMP 3.2.4 on a Windoews Server 2019. We use this server as a intermediary server to access info from another machine. We made some installations as security certificates and some webservices (all these installations was made by some partners we are working with).

The responsible of the the security of our network ask me to make an upgrade of this server. I found the XAMP 8.1.2. My question is about the process to make a correct and safe upgrade. Is it possible to do it and keep all the configuration we made on the 3.2.4 release? I read a lot of articles, and it seems it's no so easy...

If somebody could give me a procedure or tricks, it would be nice!

Hi Marc,

First: There is no XAMPP version 3.2.4. This version number is only valid for one single component (xampp control panel).
XAMPP control panel v3.2.4 was used in multiple XAMPP bundles, so it is impossible for us to see whic version you installed.

There is no upgrade functionality in XAMPP build in. So each version change should be handled as complete new installation.
This means you need to fully backup all your files, database users and data, configurations, etc.
You need to do a fresh installation of the version and restore your backuped files and data.
Nobody here can say if your configurations are valid for the XAMPP 8.1.2 version. Especially PHP removes and changes configurations with every Minor version.
