xampp still running in system processes after quitting

i was getting an error when i was shutting down my computer that xampp is preventing shutdown
today after starting and quiting the xampp program i looked in system processes and see that xampp control panel is still running in the background - after id quit the program
this is prbably why i cant shut down my computer without errors
any suggestions what can i do about this ?
