Am attempting to run XAMPP on 64 bit Windows Pro, and would like to have the option to develop JSPs. Tomcat won't start from the XAMPP Control Panel.
A 64 bit OpenJDK is installed in C:\jdk-16; environment variable JDK_HOME is pointing there. The 64 bit Hotspot open-source JRE is installed at C:\jre-16; environment variable JAVA_HOME is pointing there. Both the open source JDK and JRE were installed using a Zip file and therefore no associated registry entries were created.
Per https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49287667/tomcat-upon-xampp-doesnt-launch-for-java-home#55730622, catalina_start.bat is dependent on registry entries to provide the location for the JDK and JRE. Any clues as to the types of keys and values that need to be added in Regedit to make Tomcat run? I already tried creating key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AdoptOpenJDK with REG_SZ value JDK, value data C:\jdk-16, and REG_SZ value JRE, value data C:\jre-16, with no success in running.
