wordpress redirects to xampp dashboard

So everything is almost set up correctly except when i type my url in it redirects to the xampp dashboard instead of the wordpress install I've read a couple of articles about the .htacess file but they have not helped, i can't figure out whats wrong.

your htdocs contains the xampp default index.php which redirects to directory /dashboard

Thank you, I've overwritten the default index.php with the WordPress one but now, I get half a screen with the dir listing and half some text I don't recognise, and i cant login to admin not even from 127.0.0.0

Now that seems a wordpress configuration issue.
Maybe you can get proper help from a wordpress related support channel for this issue.
