MYSQL Suddenly stopped working

Postby alccad » 26. May 2021 13:46

Hello everyone,
I would like to post a problem with hope to get some kind of support please.
I confess am not a coder and not a professional webmaster, but I was to create a simple Wordpress website, so I dowloaded and installed Xampp 7.3.28-1.
Everything went fine and I started building my site for some hours.
Just one day later, with no apparent reason, MYSQL could not start anymore, even if since the previous day, it was working perfectly.

The log says:
2021-05-26 14:38:09 0 [Note] InnoDB: Mutexes and rw_locks use Windows interlocked functions
2021-05-26 14:38:09 0 [Note] InnoDB: Uses event mutexes

If I go inside the Event Viewer, I can find the follwing lines regarding MARIADB:
-Using unique option prefix 'key_buffer' is error-prone and can break in the future. Please use the full name 'key_buffer_size' instead.
-c:\users\alccad\xamp\mysql\bin\mysqld.exe (mysqld 10.4.19-MariaDB) starting as process 18116 ...
-InnoDB: Mutexes and rw_locks use Windows interlocked functions

-Plugin 'FEEDBACK' is disabled.
-InnoDB: Buffer pool(s) load completed at 210526 14:38:09
-Server socket created on IP: '::'.
And then 3 errors:
-mysqld.exe: Index for table '.\mysql\proxies_priv' is corrupt; try to repair it
-Fatal error: Can't open and lock privilege tables: Index for table '.\mysql\proxies_priv' is corrupt; try to repair it
-Aborting

Something seems to have become corrupted. (My suspect is that something happened when my computer went to suspension while Xampp was running, is it possible?)
But how to fix if MySQL is not running?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can save the day :)

I had similar problems a couple of months ago. MySQL just would not start. I restored a backup which fixed the problem for a while, but it then recurred.

In the end I followed the instructions here https://community.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=80422&p=271828&hilit=MySQL+shutdown#p271828 and this did the trick. I can't be sure they will work for you, but give it a try!
Thanks,
Brendan.
