Apache start error

I'm experiencing start up error when i try to open up my apache module. Sorry if I'm using all the wrong terminology, doing a course here and I'm a total noob with this.
This is what my log says:
12.54.40 [Apache] Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly.
12.54.40 [Apache] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
12.54.40 [Apache] improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.
12.54.40 [Apache] Press the Logs button to view error logs and check
12.54.40 [Apache] the Windows Event Viewer for more clues
12.54.40 [Apache] If you need more help, copy and post this
12.54.40 [Apache] entire log window on the forums
Perhaps someone out there knows what I've done wrong?
