MySQL doesnt work when I clicked to Start button for Apache and MySQL.

your mysql database needs to be repaired.

To do this please open the XAMPP Shell by clicking the Shell button in your XAMPP Control Panel and execute the following command:

Code: Select all

mysqld --console --skip-grant-tables --skip-external-locking

Leave this black command line window open and click on the Shell button in the Control Panel again to open a second command line window and execute this command:

mysqlcheck -r --databases mysql --use-frm

After that you Can close both command line Windows and try to start mysql again normally from your XAMPP control panel

I am having the same issue, I kept both windows open but looks like an issue with the first command.

I'm getting these problems all the time and none of the recommendations work, except remove everything and reinstall Xampp. This is very frustrating since I need to reinstall it every month or so. I don't know why this issue isn't addressed properly.

The solution or workaround always depends on the specific error message.
There is no way to provide a global "all in one" solution. People just read "MySQL shutdown unexpectedly" and wrongly assume that the reason and solution for this is always the same.

your mysql database needs to be repaired.

To do this please open the XAMPP Shell by clicking the Shell button in your XAMPP Control Panel and execute the following command:

mysqld --console --skip-grant-tables --skip-external-locking

Leave this black command line window open and click on the Shell button in the Control Panel again to open a second command line window and execute this command:

mysqlcheck -r --databases mysql --use-frm

After that you Can close both command line Windows and try to start mysql again normally from your XAMPP control panel

Thank you, dear Altrea for your solution! It did not work in whole for me, but the first part of your solution took me to the desired result.
After starting the mysql server with the shell command:

And keeping that window open, I started the Apache server using the menu of the xampp control window.
Then I went to the home page of my site, and verified that it is working. After that I logged in to the phpmyadmin page as usual (I am in the same machine that is running xampp, so I used the "root" loginname), and selected the mysql database in the menu.
Then I scrolled to the bottom of the page, and selected all the tables (using the "Check All" checkbox).
In the dropdown menu "With Selected ...", I selected "Check Table".
As expected the mysql.db table was corrupted.
I selected it, and in the dropdown menu "With Selected ...", I selected "Repair Table".
Then I logged off phpmyadmin.
In the xampp control window I stopped mysql and Apache servers. I also closed the Shell window.
Then I quit the xampp control (just in case), and restarted it again.
Then, using the menu of the xampp control I started the mysql and the Apache servers.
The problem was solved.

your mysql database needs to be repaired.

To do this please open the XAMPP Shell by clicking the Shell button in your XAMPP Control Panel and execute the following command:

mysqld --console --skip-grant-tables --skip-external-locking

Leave this black command line window open and click on the Shell button in the Control Panel again to open a second command line window and execute this command:

mysqlcheck -r --databases mysql --use-frm

After that you Can close both command line Windows and try to start mysql again normally from your XAMPP control panel

when i make first step success execute
mysqld --console --skip-grant-tables --skip--external--locking /* sucsess*/

but secand step not execute
mysqlcheck -r --databases mysql --use-frm /* not sucess */

and raise this error
