XAMPP as a testing site?

Postby brendie3 » 17. December 2020 22:29

I have quite a few old sites that I bought years ago. Plus a few I bought recently. Instead of buying new domains to upload them I want to test them to see what they look like. Most are php driven sites so you can't really see what they look like the same way you would for a regular html site (through the browser).
I have XAMPP installed. What are the steps I need to do to accomplish this?

Copy the asset files (.php, .js, Images, etc) somewhere in htdocs like in a subdirectory of it: \xampp\htdocs\site1\
Than they are requestable by http://localhost/site1/ etc.

If your sites are needing database data you need to create and import them first for example with help of phpmyadmin
