Error establishing a database connection AFTER Windows updat

I've been using Xampp for weeks developing a new Wordpress site thats supposed to be going live on a new host server by the end of this month.
Yesterday, Windows 10 updated to version 20H2. Could this have caused a user permissions issue in Xampp, or something?
This is what's happening:
http://localhost/dashboard/ this is OK
http://localhost/wordpress/ gives me the error: "Error establishing a database connection"
I have WordPress still in the same folder:
C:\xampp\htdocs\Wordpress
I have tried with MS Edge, Chome and Firefox - all fail the same.
I can get into http://localhost/phpmyadmin
and can see my database but when I try to access my database I get errors, such as:
#1142 - SELECT command denied to user 'pma'@'localhost' for table 'pma__tracking'
Hoping you can give me some hints - ASAP please!!
