After making password for phpMyAdmin

I saw the phpMyAdmin page by opening the url "http://localhoist/phpmyadmin/"
I thought I need to put password for phpMyAdmin.
So I did the following.

# mysqladmin --user=root password "**********"

After making password for it, I cannot open the url "http://localhoist/phpmyadmin/" correctly.
When I open the url "http://localhoist/phpmyadmin/", it says the following.

Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

I think it is because I did not log-on.
How can I logon or where can I see the login page for phpMyadmin?
