Hi I am looking forward to your much appreciated forthcoming help.

I am trying to setup an environment on my laptop so that I can use wordpress to build and test a website without being on-line.

Firstly I have installed xampp v3.2.4 and the control panel shows Apache and MYSQL both running in a state of GREEN.

I am following the instructions found at http://localhost/dashboard/docs/install-wordpress.html

From https://www.apachefriends.org/add-ons.html I have selected and downloaded the wordpress installer. I have executed the installer as admin.

Select your XAMPP installation directory (usually, C:\xampp). this is the directory which I selected.

Next a window came up "create Admin Account" enter the application password, retype password. This is not as per the installation instructions ! so I put in the password I wish to use XYZ123 and repeated it.

next it came up asking for blog name so I went with the blog name suggested.

Then I received a message with Launch WordPress in the cloud with bitnami - so I un ticked this as i dont want to be online

then came up with the message setup is now ready to begin installing bitnami WordPress module on your computer - so i press next

now says preparing to install

warning files exist in wordpress directory - this is the third attempt!

installing
creating databases
creating unistaller

now says setup finished installing bitnami WordPress module on your computer

launch bitnami wordpress - YES

press finish

new window opens in chrome http://127.0.0.1/wordpress/
message displayed "Error establishing a database connection"

so where to start please ?
