phpmyadmin printing strange characters

I've installed xampp and everything works fine apart from phpmyadmin.
When I view a database, it displays part of the page ok, but the rest of the page is all messed up, there are bits of html code and php code showing all over the place.
I read somewhere that you had to change some settings if your using an ntfs partition, I've checked and these settings are already set.
I've actually just noticed it does this on one of my own web pages too.
Can anyone help?
Will I have to setup a fat32 partition?
