Old cron/scheduler ghost springs to life!

Postby Tunnelboy » 30. April 2020 02:47

So a few years ago I created a script that I wanted to run every hour. I *somehow* set this up (Windows 7, Xampp 1.7.1), but I don't remember how. It never ran it and I gave up on it.

Two days ago I did a minor Windows 7 update, and all of the sudden this script has sprung to life! I don't use it anymore and can't for the life of me find out where or what is running it. I searched all over and every article says there is no cron on Windows and it's in the Windows Scheduler, but I searched every square inch of the scheduler, and it is not in there. Yet the script continues to run hourly. I renamed the script, but still a tab opens every hour in my browser!

Any ideas where to look?

The answer is still Windows scheduler. That is the only windows default program that runs a script in schedule.

Or you installed a third party program to act like a cron job. But we cannot help you in any way here and I don't see a relationship to xampp.
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!
