MYSQL keeps shutting down unexpectedly due to blocked port..

Postby 202progressor » 29. April 2020 13:18

Can any one help with the following, I've checked some of the forums but it's unclear to me how all of sudden mysql server has suddenly stopped working. The only updates to my machine have been the Win updates, apart from that I've not made any changes, so it's slightly baffling. I've been using XAMPP/Control panel since last year to assist with creating a website using wordpress. The Apache and Mysql servers have started/stopped successfully previously without any problems. However, since yesterday 28 April 2020, Mysql server has suddenly failed to start, it doesn't matter what I try to do, it just simply will not start. Really stuck as I was in nearing the completion of my website locally before transferring it over to main host site. Here are some details below. Any help resolved will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

On XAMPP Control panel the following is displayed:-

Coincidently I am also unable to access phpmyadmin locally as I get the following error(although I think this may be linked to the mysql errors):-

Cannot connect: invalid settings.
mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2002): No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.
mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2002): No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

Any ideas?

Hi, thanks for the response. I haven't updated, as I'm concerned I may loose my website data? How did you update? ie did you have to uninstall existing app or did you install v7.4.5 over existing app. Thanks
