Can Xampp have issues after a Windows update?

Postby atendernature » 12. February 2020 18:45

Good afternoon,

Yesterday, I've worked on Xampp until evening; then, as I was about to shut down the computer, I have noticed "update and restart" instead of "update", so I've clicked on it and it took all evening.

This morning, I have try to open Xampp, but Apache won't start. Here's the main screen of the control panel:
12:34:56 PM [Apache] Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly.
12:34:56 PM [Apache] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
12:34:56 PM [Apache] improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.
12:34:56 PM [Apache] Press the Logs button to view error logs and check
12:34:56 PM [Apache] the Windows Event Viewer for more clues
12:34:56 PM [Apache] If you need more help, copy and post this
12:34:56 PM [Apache] entire log window on the forums

Here's what I get from error.log:
[Wed Feb 12 12:34:56.042714 2020] [ssl:warn] [pid 8252:tid 644] AH01909: www.example.com:443:0 server certificate does NOT include an ID which matches the server name

[Wed Feb 12 12:34:56.165469 2020] [ssl:warn] [pid 8252:tid 644] AH01909: www.example.com:443:0 server certificate does NOT include an ID which matches the server name

[Wed Feb 12 12:34:56.313599 2020] [:emerg] [pid 8252:tid 644] AH00020: Configuration Failed, exiting

I've already changed the ports as mentioned online, with no success.

There was another tutorial suggesting to reinstall Xampp, but I had no backup of my work... Because I'm an average chick, apparently... I didn't even think of backing up my databases every weekend...

Therefore, since I do not have access to PHPMyAdmin, I've copied all of my files into another folder, before reinstalling Xampp, and I hope I can reinstall them.

Reinstalling Xampp has changed nothing, I still have the same problem.

I also want to add that I've never opened Skype on my computer; in theory, it shouldn't be activated.

Since the only thing that has changed since yesterday is the update, can it be the problem? And also, how can I resolve it?

Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to read this. :)

This is your issue. You need to have installed the Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019 Runtime (x64) from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... -downloads

Please undo this change. That is NOT your issue.

best wishes,

Thank you so very much, Altrea!
Everything is back to normal, and there are no words in the English dictionary to express the relief I feel right now.
Thank you again, and have a wonderful day. :)
