how to uninstall without installer, app in programs?

So I have been unable to open the control panel.

I've backed up the whole htdocs and now I wish to uninstall and reinstall.

When I open the windows uninstall program thing in the control panel, there is no xampp installed there to uninstall.

When I open it through settings it is also not there.

However, I DO have a xampp folder in my c: drive and until recently it was working fine (a windows update seems to have stuffed it up).

What can I do?

Can I just delete the whole xampp folder? Would that even work?

I don't know if Apache is open. It is not showing in services but I am able to open the localhost, but not access the database, not sure if that indicates Apache is open or not.

Anyway, I don't know what to do here. The two methods I can find on google are not available to me.

You can use the xampp\apache_stop.bat to stop apache.
After that, you can move the xampp directory to xampp_old and install/unzip your new version of xampp.
