Update windows 10, port opened but always connection reset

Postby taqiyal » 27. October 2019 15:35

Hi, first of all sorry for my bad english.

Windows 10 1903
64 bit
XAMPP 7.3.10
Control Panel V3.2.4

After update windows 10, I got a problem. Apache ports (80, 443) was opened properly with no error, but when I try to access http://localhost/ it take load with long time, and look so messy (like css not called in). And when I open http://localhost/phpmyadmin it always reset connection (using chrome). And when I open my web application, some of them can loaded with long time, and mess looking. and some of then always connection reset. I'm try to kill ISS, ntoskrnl, NET Framework (I suspect it, because the log of windows 10 is update NET Framework) but it doesn't work. I'm looking with netstat, but there is nothing PID using port 80 except XAMPP. I try to opened XAMPP with Run as administrator but still doesn't work. I check firewall, and I was allow httpd from private and public network and nothing happen.

Is there any solutions to my problem?

Thanks in advance

Hi taqiyal,

I had some trouble following what you are saying so I am going to put it in my words and then you can tell me if this is correct.

- You updated windows 10
- Before the update everything was working.
- In the xampp control panel you started Apache and it all started (the Text is green the pid and ports show some numbers and the button shows Stop instead of Start).
- You then started MySql and all is green there too.
- You cannot get the phpMyAdmin page to work on your browser. (Did you try the Admin button i the control panel?)
- Your application is slow and does not display correctly.

First you need to identify what is listening on port 80.

You say that XAMPP is using port 80. Perhaps you mean that apache is using Port 80 as per the default configuration (XAMPP does not use any ports). To check who is using port 80 I suggest.

If you are running apache as a process Click the NetStat button in hte XAMPP Control Panel. This will show you which processes are using which ports and which PIDs. If is states httpd.exe that is apache. (actually two separate httpd processes one for port 80 for http and one for port 443 for https)

If you are running apache as a service then you need to click the Services button and the apache service is called apache2.4 in this version of the software.

Also I do not know what is ISS did you not mean IIS?

Thank you for answering my question, I think (maybe) port 80 on the latest Windows 10 can't be used anymore. So I changed the port to 9080 and it worked fine. Unfortunately because using not a standard port, I need to add a port and make URL a little annoying. But when using https, everything works fine. Unfortunately, because I don't have a valid certificate, it's a bit annoying too. so I need to confirm every time I access it.

And yes, I mean port 80 is only used by Apache, and ISS means IIS.

Thank you.

I had the same issue back when I was running Win10, and did solve it the same way at first, but since it was more like jerry-rigging than like an actual solution, I reinstalled Windows 8.1 on my computer and solved MANY compatibility problems at the same time...
