Smarty and MySQL

Hey guys, I have been using XAMPP for a short while, mainly because it comes already pre-configured with everything I needed in the first place so I never had to go into it thoroughly to tweak it.

I just recently ran into 2 problems and I need help from anyone that knows what I can do to solve them.

1) I need to figure out how to use Smarty along with XAMPP (it is a requirement for one of the assignments I got given in my course)

2) How do you feed "create table" queries and the such for MySQL (I'm only used to doing it through command line)

I am using the latest version of XAMPP and I'm using it on WinXP
