Xampp Question with php project

I am new to PHP and XAMPP, and i just download an open source php project to launch with xampp. But i have this error when i browse to localhost after i added PHP project code into C:\xampp\htdocs
Error show as: Cannot select database. Unknown database
I try to check the code but not really understand whats went wrong, can anyone provide idea how to resolve above error? Thanks
