Failed Windows update 7.2.8 / PHP 7.2.8

Hi!

Am new to xampp so excuse the newbie thought processes!

Downloaded the install package for Windows update 7.2.8 / PHP 7.2.8. but despite repeated attempts at re-installing, it fails to execute.

The error I get (the only one) is: "Windows cannot find'-n'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, then try again."

I have no idea what I I misspelled that causes the failure. Could it be that the update is a 32 bit app but need a64 bit for my HP?

Can anyone point me to a resolution?

Thanks

RB

Usually this happen if you try to install Xampp into a folder which contains spaces (i.e. "c:/program files" or similar). You did not tell anything (not even a single bit) about your installation, that makes it more than difficult to suggest any fixes.

Nobbie,

Thank you for responding. What else would you prefer to know? I did say I was a newbie...... :D

I thought I did what it said on the tin but was wrong.

1. I downloaded the app file to my 'downloads' folder
2. Created a folder named XAMPP in the C: drive Program Files directory
3. Actioned the unpack to install in the Xampp folder as per 2 above
4. Installation seemed to have been 100% successful
5. Clicked the start Xampp.exe link and that was it - game over!
6. Almost immediately the failure/error message appeared.

Tomorrow I will repeat the process from #3 above and double/triple check anti-virus is paused correctly and will let you all know if the install succeeded.

Thanks again Nobbie. Your work on this forum is very much appreciated.

Will install into a new folder called Xampp on the C drive and avoid the folder name word space issue you mentioned.

Thanks
