Character set problems

I have a remote site running PHP and MYSQL at a hosting company. I use a local site with XAMPP for development. The remote site generates MYSQL data tables and data in may languages. Everything is set to utf8. When surfing to the remote site everything looks OK. If I export the remote data base and import it to XAMPP i get errors for all special characters. CarlEric
