Prestashop does not run

Postby moogle89 » 03. August 2017 10:49

Hello people
I want to try and run a prestashop from a Cpanel backup that I have downloaded. (Full backup)
I put all the unzipped files on the htdocs folder and nothing happens. I see the regular page of XAMPP (localhost).
Do you have any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

What should happen?
What do you do to access the files?

Describe much much more in detail what you are doing, what you expect and what happens instead.
Otherwise providing help remotely is nearly impossible for us.

best wishes,

I have a prestashop running on godaddy servers, and I want to upgrade it. But before doing that I want to test upgrade it in case any problems occur.
So I am using XAMPP on Windows 8.1 to do that.

I used the cpanel inrterface to download a full website backup, and then unzipped the contents of it to the htdocs folder on XAMPP.
Currently I am having another problem of the database not being able to get imported (this is pretty funny since I fix one problem then another pops up)

I was expecting prestashop to run? Sorry I am not a programmer, just the administrator of the website..

If this is a database problem, I am currently asking for help for that problem here xD

If you need any other info please tell me and I will post more ^^

So you expect that just by copying files and importing a database your computer would automatically opens up a browser and request the URL from your local prestashop? That is for sure not the case.
You need to open your browser manually and request the correct URL by typing it into your browsers address bar.

Morgoth from stackoverflow wrote:I have removed the size limitations for it, and the XAMPP folder is on the desktop. (no chance of a permissions problem).

Having XAMPP running on the Desktop IS a huge permission problem. This folder is only accessible by yourself. If you are running XAMPP components as Administrator this can be a problem. If your username contains some special characters or white spaces this could be a problem, etc.
Install XAMPP directly in C;\, that is recommended.

Did you also edit the PHPs max execution time limit? Otherwise importing a database can result in timeout problems.
