Hello all. First time user here.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already, but this didn't show up in any keyword searches.

I've tried to install XAMPP (Windows 7.1.7 and my OS is Windows 7 Professional) a couple of times now, but the wizard keeps giving me this pop-up:

Warning
Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly
Could not set registry key HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE\Software\xampp Install_Dir
REG_SZ

How can I fix this?
Or can I just ignore this?

Hi there,
same issue here. Only solution I found was adding the user to the admin group (temporarely) - this worked for me.
Finally the Install_Dir key is not being written to HKLM\software\ but to HKLM\software\wow6432Node\xampp.
Seems as if it does not really affect the installation.
