Site Can't Be Reached - changed port numbers

I've changed the port numbers according to instructions and am able to reach the dashboard localhost:10080/dashboard/ AND phpmyadmin localhost:10080/phpmyadmin/ but cannot connect to any of the sites I've set up in htdocs which works when the port number is the default 80 / 443.

The url I use in the browser is localhost:10080/sitename/ which returns the error

This site can’t be reached

localhost refused to connect.

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I've followed the details in the guide from Altrea (https://community.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=69784#p239064)

What am I missing?

They are all WordPress sites in the htdocs folder.

But when the port numbers are the default 80 and 443, all the sites work perfectly.

Is there something else that needs to be changed when the apache port numbers are changed per your guide?

See my reply. If the htaccess or site configurarion of wordpress contains still the information that the site is accessible on port 80 or 443 its frontcontroller and url building mechanic will route you to this wrong port.

Obviously you totally overlooked the intro of that guide. It starts with: "Changing the Apache ports has some sideeffects:"! And there are some important points, which you seems to have overlooked totally. As there is "append port to every request" as well as "configurable Third Party Webapplications" and finally "unconfigurable Third Party Webapplications".

You seems to have installed WordPress (a Third Party Webapplication) on localhost, but after changing the ports, localhost is no more valid, it must be localhost:10080 instead. And WordPress stores the information from the installation(!) time in configuration files, into the database and also in .htaccess. You have to tell WordPress as well that you have changed the ports. That is one of many reasons why we do not recommend to change the default Apache ports. These sideeffects can be very annoying. Thats what you are missing.

Thank you Altrea & Nobbie for pointing me in the right direction. Granted, it reminded me of my Father teaching me how to swim by tossing me into the deep end of the pool - I quickly learned several wrong ways but eventually learned the correct way.

With WordPress, in addition to everything I did based on the guide from Altrea, I simply deleted the database then re-installed a fresh database from the live site. I was trying to use a copy or backup of the original localhosted database and that is what was not working.

It has to be a fresh database copy off the live site.
