XAMPP Why not release 64 bit for Windows Platforms

Hi,

XAMPP why only 32 bit release for windows. Windows users %90 using 64 bit platform but XAMPP not developement 64 bit. Maybe you can release 64 bit and this will be good.

Apache 2.4.25 (Win64)
mysqld (64 bit) - MariaDB

Hi,

Because every current Windows version can run 32bit binaries very well. And you don't have these big advantages from a 64bit release.
Bitnami (the developers of the recent XAMPP versions) are only developing one bit compile per version which is 64bit on Linux and 32Bit on Windows.

best wishes,

Hmm I understand. I thinking setup a server.. For this reason i learned to set up all of them separately 2 days ago.

Actually 64 bits (Apache (Win64) , PHP 7.1.6(x64) , MariaDB 10.2.6 (x64) faster than XAMPP

I tried to mysql test db import 1 million entry.

XAMPP = Imported 7,5 minutes with 2 php timeout

separately = Imported 80 seconds

I think The difference is huge , for this reason i going set up all them separately :)

Instead i simply would use another my.ini (or my.cnf) file, Xampps default my.ini is configured for very small amount of data. You will find some different configuration files in the mysql/data (or mysql/bin, i dont remember precisely) like my-large.ini and my-huge.ini

I would do a bet that the right configuration would speed up the Database. And you also have to look which default Engine is used, whether MyISAM or InnoDB. That also can make a huge difference. I dont believe that 32 vs 64bit would make such a difference, even a database with 1 million rows is not a performance problem for 32bit MySQL. The reason must be something else.
