I received this error when trying to load Moodle. I downloaded the latest version of mariaDB but now XAMPP is giving me

You cannot start both MariaDB servers, you already started your own installed newer version and are now trying to start Xampps MariaDB as well, that does not work and that is exactly what the above error messages are telling you. Simply do not start Xampps MariaDB.

Thank you, Nobbie:

How do I stop XAMPPS older version of XAMPP so I can use this newer version in XAMPP?

Thank you.

Do not start Xampps MariaDB, neither manually nor as a service. And do not start it automatically. You dont need to stop it, if you even dont start it.

I opened the config box when I first opened XAMPP I do not have it set to have any of the modules starting automatically. And I haven't started any modules, but I am still getting this error. I am not sure how to stop it from starting automatically.

Thanks for your guidance

As this error shows up in the Xampp Dialog - how can this happen, if you do not start anything? Dont start Xampp Dialog, if unsure.

Please explain precisely, where you can see these error messages. And why do they show up?

I am sorry, I really am not following.

Are you suggesting that I don't use XAMPP as my server?

All I am doing is opening the control panel. When I open the control panel I get these errors. I assume these means that both of these programs are running automatically but I can figure out how to stop one of them. I am thinking MySQL because the MariaDB is the most up to date version.

Thank you.
