Fake Sendmail and plugin wp mail smtp

Hi everybody.

I have a doubt and will appreciate if you could help me.

I have installed the above mentioned plugin to solve a problem I had sending email from my localhost.

Now, I have seen that there is an option when you are installing XAMPP, which is to mark the option Fake Sendemail. Now, I have it uninstalled.

My question is: If I install that option can I unistall the plugin? Are they doing the same?
