MySQL Admin

Hi,
I am new to xampp, want to learn and create dynamic website; I tried to download and install xampp. Apache and MySQL is running but when I click on Admin button, I arrive page says following:

"HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."

Why am I getting this error? what is the solution? is anybody around to Help me?

Hi,

This is a IIS error page, so obviously Microsoft IIS is running on your system and not Apache.
IIS is another Webserver product.

Keep things clear (you are mixing up a lot). When you click the Admin Button, this results simply in starting your standard browser. And it is preconfigured to load "http://localhost/phpmyadmin". Up to here it has nothing to do with Xampp, you can even start your browser manually and enter that URL. Would be the same.

But when Xampp has been installed correctly and Apache is also started successfully (what is NOT the case), the URL http://localhost/phpmyadmin yields to a MySQL Tool, which comes with Xampp. BUT: Obviously, Xampp is not installed correctly i.e. Apache does NOT run, instead Microsoft IIS is running on your PC (which hinders Apache to start) and Microsoft IIS cannot find that phpmyadmin tool (as it is part of Xampp, not part of Microsoft IIS).

Actually, i just read few tutorials and was trying to make a website, what you have explained i did not think over it. OK let me try to download and install it again.

No, that wont change anything. The problem is Microsoft IIS, not Xampp. You dont need to install it again.

I wonder you did not report about issues starting Apache. You either even did not try to start Apache (prior to any Admin Button, you have to start Apache and MySQL via Xampp Control) or you totally overlooked any error messages. I am pretty sure that you will get some error messages upon Apache start, that Apache cannot run. Probably you will also see a message like "XX:XX:XX [Apache] Port 80 in use by "Unable to open process" with PID 4!".

Yayyyyyy! Finally, I succeeded to start xampp and Php my admin.

Hey Nobbie, I am just trying to learn things, want to make first website and yes, now i can read tutorials and try in dreamweaver. Thanks
