Apache Start Trouble

Postby kbern » 23. August 2016 20:39

I looked through the thread for Apache Won't Start topic and couldn't find the answer to my question.

When I go to start Apache it gives me this error message:

The program can't start becasue api-ms-win-runtime-[1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I did uninstall and reinstall XAMPP but didn't find any success. I have also tried turning off the UAC controls and that didn't seem to fix anything either.

Any help would be welcome thanks!

UPDATE: I changed the Apache port to 81 and also tried turning the firewall off as these were both mentioned as possible solutions. Neither worked.

Turning off the firewall is never the solution. My experience has taught me that when you do that on Windows, it just locks it as it is, it doesn't open all ports.

Go a tad further and check the exceptions. Is there an exception for httpd.exe? If not, then add it in with the "Allow a program through Windows Firewall"
