Resolving a conflict with ports used

Postby ecoduma » 29. June 2016 10:15

Hi there,

I have been getting into some troubles while setting up XAMPP.
After installing and starting Control Panel I got red strings stating:

11:50:37 [Apache] Problem detected!
11:50:37 [Apache] Port 443 in use by ""C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware-hostd.exe" -u "C:\ProgramData\VMware\hostd\config.xml"" with PID 3700!
11:50:37 [Apache] Apache WILL NOT start without the configured ports free!
11:50:37 [Apache] You need to uninstall/disable/reconfigure the blocking application
11:50:37 [Apache] or reconfigure Apache and the Control Panel to listen on a different port

I tried to create new rules in the Windows firewall but it hasn't helped.

The matter is that I cannot let VMware be turned off because I need it constantly. How can I make XAMPP to work without interfering in settings of already set up and workable program?

Thank you very much, hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you! I've checked this topic before asking my question. The matter is that in VMware I cannot change port without disabling sharing but I cannot turn it off because I need it. Can assign other ports to XAMPP, for instance?

Thank you again,

Why can't you change the port I'm VMWare? Is that the only port it works on? If you don't use https:// in xampp, it won't matter which you change. Just know that changing Apache port requires alternative method to access. Suggest you just change VMW.
