I am also new to xampp had same problem visit the below link which solved it.

Hello...Here's the way to overcome the error... . Even i faced the same problem while starting the server.
There might be two problems:- 1. Your version might be mismatched. 2. Make sure all your 80,443 ports are free from access.
---> In my case, i was using bitnami backendless application which was using the port 80 and 443. hence uninstall the related application which uses the ports.
