Hello I'm a newbie on XAMPP I'm having problems

Postby TheLa5tStand » 25. May 2016 04:27

I tried to change the port number to 85 since it said port 80 is in use. I went to internet to type in local host and for some reason it won't let me register or see the localhost screen. So I tried suffering on youtube to learn a little more about how to fix XAMPP issue. So please help me understand what I'm doing wrong and causing my Apache and MySQL unable to run...Thanks for taking your time reading this since the log told me to copy and paste this error on this forums for my window.

Enter "Port 80 in use by "Unable to open process" with PID 4!" into Google.

P.S.: Do not install Xampp into such a crazy folder lilke ""c:\users\marcus\desktop\top secret\", this will result in problems as well. Who told you to do so? Install it to c:/xampp or any similar (simple) folder. You did not only put Xampp into a personal folder (what is not recommended), you also put it on the Desktop (ouch!!) and you inserted a space into the installation folder "top secret" (double ouch!!). Three big mistakes in a single issue - surely you hit the high score!

Hi,

I totally agree with Nobbie.

Additional tips:
- Don't configure multiple types of autostart (Windows Services AND control panel autostart functionality)
- Don't configure any Autostart at all except everything is running fine without them
- Try to solve your PID 4 problem: [Q&A] solving Port 80 in use by PID 4 (HTTP.sys) issue
- If you still need to change the Apache ports, do it the right way: [Q&A] Changing the Apache default ports

best wishes,
Altrea

Other than that are there any other ways to contact the staff on how to set up stealth servers with VPS?
