Wordpress Config. Online to Localhost

Hello, I'm having trouble xampp configuration. I have a website in wordpress with a theme installed online and would like to import it to complete the localhost using xampp, I back up the database tables and also the wordpress. When I make the connection between the database and the site in xampp it does not recognize the tables, you would know how to resolve this problem? Thank you. Windows platform.
