Problems with the Windows version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

Just starting to deal with a little of CMS systems and would like to try Magento 1.9.2.x versions...now i see more XAMPP versions, which to download?

I'm using Windows 7.

Sorry for newb question :?

The one that fits the Magento requirements: http://devdocs.magento.com/guides/m1x/s ... ments.html
Especially the php version is important.

PHP 5.4.x
PHP 5.5.x

is 5.5.30 / PHP 5.5.30

thanks, so new for me....should i setup password for root etc? any guides?

IMHO this is not necessary if you use XAMPP as it is designed for (local test and development environment)

There are no XAMPP specific guides available. You only need to install XAMPP, be sure the needed components are running and you are ready to use it, install your webapplications, etc.

will magento 1.9.x.x work with newer php 7 version which is faster?

We are not the Magento development board, so we cannot answer this question.
In most cases the answer is no. PHP7 is different and many script developers need to adjust their code to be PHP7 compatible.
But you can ask this question on a Magento support channel to be sure.
