The socket file is only used, when TCPIP is NOT USED, but Xampp MySQL uses TCPIP Port 3306.

I need to setup a moodle server in the morning and creating it returns an error :

Error: Database connection failed

It is possible that the database is overloaded or otherwise not running properly.

The site administrator should also check that the database details have been correctly specified in config.php

Warning: mysqli::mysqli(): (HY000/2002): Connection refused in /moodle/lib/dml/mysqli_native_moodle_database.php on line 79

which corresponds to this line : http://puu.sh/ninbz/9a28c7dfe3.png
so I guessed it was a problem with the socket ! What could it be then ?

No, it is definately not the socket. As i already said, Xampp does not use the socket.

Maybe you applied the wrong credentials (username, password, hostname, database name) or your MySQL Server is not properly started.

The user ln3x got full access to the moodle database, and it's password is admin

You should show us the user configuration too.
I guess the user is permitted to login from any host (%).
And that is a problem because there is another anonymous user which has a higher priority.
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!

It's like porn for programmers 8)
