Postby terrys » 29. October 2015 16:17

Hi,
I have just installed the latest version of Xampp
but cannot get it to run as a service, in fact only Apache is in "services "
and although it's set to start auto, but will not
MySql and Fill Zilla are not shown in "services" at all.
I currently start allvia the control panel
My system is W7 64bt
Had no trouble with the earlier version

Can anyone help ??

Regards

Hi,

how do you try to register the services (there are multiple ways to do so)?
Can you provide information about the Apache service?
Are there any event log entries giving a hint why your Apache service don't get started?

best wishes,
Altrea

Hi T
hanks for your interest, This is the latest in the Apache error log

Thu Oct 29 17:39:26.362134 2015] [ssl:warn] [pid 7952:tid 260] AH01909: www.example.com:443:0 server certificate does NOT include an ID which matches the server name
[Thu Oct 29 17:39:26.395136 2015] [mpm_winnt:notice] [pid 7952:tid 260] AH00354: Child: Starting 150 worker threads.
i must be honest. This means nothing to me.
all i want is an auto operating Apache operation.

This error arises as a result of the openss.cnf not having settings. Try editing C:\xampp\php\extras\openssl.cnf and either shut ssh engine down (sslengine=off) I believe or start filling in your info and defining a lot of security info. There is adequate help, syntex examples, and default values. you should have no trouble. Sorry Im not able to look right now and can be more specific later tomorrow. I can tell you as I just did this a few days ago the if you start populating you might as well finish the whole thing, I wasnt ready to get into security certs. yet, as I didnt even have my servers up. I filled in a few paths and the pid was gone. Until the next one popped up. back in for a few more fields and same thing. openssl walked me through the entire form before it released its deadly grasp. Why it popped up in the first place seems, so far, to be an installation quirk caused by mismatched directory naming conventions. Once passed it everything works fine. Im also playing with the openssl conf file to see if it can be used to set a quick shutdwn of fill in a barebones .cnf to get up and running......Cheers!!
