Using 2 versions of XAMPP

Postby Sylver Cheetah 53 » 26. July 2015 22:29

Hi!

My name is Daniel and I am from Romania. I want to know if it is possible tu use 2 versions of XAMPP. Now I have XAMPP USB Lite 1.7.7 but I want also to install XAMPP 1.8.2-6 Portable. The reason I don't want the latest version is because I am still using good old Windows XP.
Thanks!

Regards,
DANIEL

You can use different Xampp Releases on one PC, but you cannot

a) use these at the same time (you can only start one of them)

b) install the servers (Apache, MySQL) as a Windows Service

In my mind, it would be the best if you install VirtualBox on your PC and run two different guest machines there, one with Xampp 1.7.7 and the other with Xampp 1.8.2-6, so it is impossible that they collide in anyway. That might be far easier to maintain than installing two Xampp Versions in one environment.
