having read someother threads on same topic. i tried localhost:81 (as i having assigned 81 as my port). it doesnt work either. it says
"Object not found!

The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

Error 404

localhost
Apache/2.4.12 (Win32) OpenSSL/1.0.1l PHP/5.6.8"

But then port no. is been 81 for ages and it used to work fine. just today i came across this error.

Hi,

What does your Browsers address bar show at the time you are getting this error page?
What does your Apache access.log show?

best wishes,
Altrea

Okay, let's begin with bringing your system outputs to a state u can work with them.

if you change the Apache ports and still want to use the control panel with full control, do it the right way. You need to tell the control panel the new port too:
=> https://community.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=69784#p239064

After that restart the control panel and try to (re)start Apache again. Please show us the control panel log window of this try again.

if Apache still will not start, please execute the apache_start.bat script and tell us what you get responsed from it.

If Apache is started (on port 81), please try to request http://localhost:81/ and tell us what response your browser gives.

Hi Altrea

I have changed the port name to 81 in service and port setting.
Then I restarted it and located http://localhost:81/ and I got to my file directory. (i wish i could post an image of it to show you but i dont think that the forum has such functionality).
This is been working fine, i am just worried about xampp homepage which i could not locate to.
The only thing that does not work since i posted this topic is that thexampp homepage. I typed http://localhost:81/xampp and this is what i got.
Object not found!

Then you must have changed something else like the DocumentRoot or deleted the xampp folder from your htdocs folder.

That means, that you MUST have changed any file or folder or configuration, This is NOT default Xampp behaviour. You may have forgotten about that, but it is at it is. Whithout any doubts.

And i am 1000% sure, that you are wrong. The only "way out" is to remember correctly.

Oh my god
Can I just delete everything and install xampp again
Please tell me how to remove the entire thing because I don't wanna leave any bits and bobs. I don't want the existing files to interact with my new one
Thanks

Did you use the XAMPP installer you can execute the uninstaller to get rid of everything.
Die you use the zip or 7z version simply delete the Xampp root folder (e.g. C:\xampp)
