I use used an older version of xampp on two PC´s on W7
I got problems with that version on my laptop with W8
Installed fine the first time, then stopped working.

Decided a few days ago to upgrade to latest version.
No problems on PC´s but laptop got exactly same problem.

After installation it starts up and it worked fine for several days until I restarted the laptop.
Then I got same problem as previous experienced with an older version.
As soon as I restart and get following alarm:
Port 443 in use by ""C:\xampp\apache\bin\httpd.exe" -k runservice" with PID 1548!

Seems like it still in use form the first session and only reset on a new installation.

Any clue?

Not really, your descrition lacks of information where you installed Xampp. Obviously, there is already running an Apache Server on C:\xampp\apache\bin\httpd.exe - you *should* know, which version that is.

Standard installation in/xampp/ and it is the latest version installed. The previous installation was completely removed and new install used same standard directory.
That is the reason why I don´t understand this message. There is only one standard install from start and this message doesn´t appear after installation and first time running.

The very first thing i would do is stop and unregister the Windows Service for Apache
