double click to open a php file as a webpage

Postby dnelblnc951 » 28. June 2015 14:23

Hi
I've installed xampp which works just fine except for 1 thing that keeps bothering me and I wonder if it can be fixed.
whenever I double click a php file, chrome (or internet explorer) won't open it as a webpage but it would prompt me
to save it (like when downloading a file from the internet).
chrome opene with this url: file:///C:/xampp/htdocs/page.php rather than with: localhost/page.php
the only way for me to open a php file is to open chrome > type localhost in the address bar and than to navigate to the file.
is it possible to set it so whenever I double click a file in htdocs it opens as webpage?

thanks
