The new release contains PhpMyAdmin 4.3.11 version not the 4.4.3 version as listed in the notes. 4.4.3 can be downloaded/installed as a separate component (copy the complete directory + config.inc.php from the installation)

So the OpenSSL is only 1.0.1l not 1.0.1m. PHPMyAdmin is 4.3.11 no 4.4.3. What did get upgraded?

PHP did, it's actually 5.6.8

OpenSSL 1.0.1l would be ok with a tighter SSL config, what I am seeing in the .7z package is actually frightening, but then Xampp is not for production use. I however was unable to find anywhere that clearly states this on the website or the download page.
