Hi,
I have installed mysql 5.5.8 and mysql query browser and mysql odbc connector, when i installed xampp the both mysql query browser and mysql in xampp are not working and showing error while entering the username and password in query browser and while installing mysql 5.5.8 the security services is not executing..
I want to install mysql query browser mysql 5.5.8 and mysql odbc connector for differnet project and xampp for another project.
Please help to resolve this problem..and also please mention how to assign different port no for different mysql 5.5.8 and mysql in xampp so they should run appropriately..

If you really want to have two different MySQL Installations (what is not recommended), simply start only one at a time. You cannot run two instances simultaniously, but of course you can start either one only.

No. Changing the ports is the worst thing you can do and that is so bad and leads to endless problems, i simply do not support that "solution".

Hi I'm getting following errors,
So please help to resolve these.I have installed "mysql-workbench-community-6.0.9-win32","mysql-connector-odbc-5.3.4-win32","mysql-connector-net-6.9.5","mysql-5.6.21-win32","xampp-win32-1.8.3-3-VC11-installer","mysql-gui-tools-5.0-r17-win32-mysql query browser"
-> Mysql administrator error
could not connect to the specified instance.
mysql error number 2003:
can't connect to mysql server on 'localhost'(10061)
If u want to check network connection ,please click the ping button
is displaying.
-> when gave mysql instance configuration wizard to reconfigure,
the service could not be started.Error:0
is displaying..
here i have used the port no:3306,user:root,password:root,localhost

Why do you think your password is "root"?

This does not answer the question how you think you have changed your root user password

because while installing mysql server when we launch mysql install wizard it asks security setting like username and password so i have given both root
