Using XAMPP with MariaDB

I have MariaDB already installed (in program files etc)

XAMPP Control Panel whines about the path of the service's executable:
MySQL Service detected with wrong path

Can I make it recognize that instance of mysqld.exe (I just want the start/stop buttons to work, I have no other problems)

Of course you can, simply do not start MySQL via Xampp Control, instead start the external MySQL manually (or with any other GUI).

Of course, I just want to be able to start/stop MySQL and access its my.ini from the Control Panel.
