How do I re-install XAMPP after reformatting my system?

Postby wardrich » 05. February 2015 07:32

Hello all:

Long time user and fan of Xampp, but first time poster here. I've been using Xampp for close to 10 years now and I've never encountered any trouble with re-installing it in the past. It has allowed me to simply re-install over the previous installation while keeping my htdocs folder and such preserved. This was really handy for quickly re-installing the services.

It appears that with the recent upgrades to the system, it is no longer possible to re-install Xampp over an old install. Just wondering if I'm missing a step, and why I can't just choose to install into a non-empty directory and have it skip over already existing items?

Thanks!

Found the answer in this thread here: https://community.apachefriends.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=49358&sid=57ece0dc5a8a66710d4e112f14d7f4bc

It's unfortunate that we can no longer simply re-install over the older version.
