Apache Friends Support Forum

I've downloaded and installed xampp and can start apache and MySQL but get the following error when trying to start Tomcat:

Tomcat Started/Stopped with errors, return code: 1
Make sure you have Java JDK or JRE installed and the required ports are free
Check the "/xampp/tomcat/logs" folder for more information

I have Java installed and it is registered.
The log folder is empty.
I'm not sure which port Tomcat is supposed to use, and don't know how to troubleshoot this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
