XAMPP installation messed up my pc

I installed XAMPP about a week ago. Once installed I could no longer use firefox or my ms mail.
I uninstalled XAMPP but still couldn't use mail of ff.
I uninstalled ff and re-installed it - still no good. I tried help from various ff forums and in the end I deleted all mozilla files from the pc and the registry then re-installed ff. Now it start but looks weird and still won't work - I can type into search bar or address bar but nothing happens.
I had to rename something in the windows mail directory to get that working.
IE9 works sort of but won't recognise either apachefriends or wordpress sites.
Now I find that photoshop cs4 no longer works. Removal and reinstallation of that doesn't work either.
So now I have a pc withe several tens of thousands of photoshop images on he attached storage but I can't access them because an XAMPP installation completely screwed up my machine.
Btw, XAMPP was the ONLY thing I tried installing for quite a while, so it can't be blamed on anything else
Any ideas? - oh, I can't afford to buy a new pc and I certainly don't want to spend a week building a new disc.
