I am a XAMPP newbie (having used it successfully for teaching some years ago) - When I type in the URL http://localhost it connects to Microsoft's IIS local server and Apache will not connect from the XAMPP control Panel.

How do I solve this please ?

hI Tony,

If you don't need or don't want to use Microsoft IIS, you are save to uninstall it in the windows components window.
