Installation package issues - accessibility, etc.

Firstly, as I initially understood it, the last P at the end of the name XAMPP had something to do with 'portable', and thus wouldn't really have expected it to require too much of an installation package, but, this wasn't really an issue to begin with - up to at least 1.7.4, since the installation package was usable by those of us who work with screen reader software on our windows PC's. However, when I now specifically wanted to install newest version: xampp-win32-1.8.3-4-VC11-installer.exe - I had to use my jaws (job-access-with-speech) screen reader's on-screen OCR functionality to fiddle/befuddle my way through the installation process, trying to decide which button was most likely the next one I'd like to click on, etc. etc. - managed it, but, takes a bit longer/bit of trial-error to get it right, but anyway..?

And, real reason for this post is just wondering if, for example, I can now just take a compressed archive of an installation, and move that over to a new PC/location, to thus avoid having to handle this part of the process, again and again, etc.?

As in, does the last letter P, still stand for portable, or does it really now need to be installed on each machine as such?

TIA

And, yes, do know/realise/understand that second P actually refers to Perl interpretation, but, for example if you look it up on Wikipedia, you'll see they do mention portability - that was one of the initial reasons moved over to XAMPP from WAMP in first place - portability, lack of 'wizard' configuration, etc. etc... :)

You can copy the whole xampp folder to a different PC, run once the setup_xampp.bat script and should be ready to work on that new PC.
btw: if you plan to use XAMPP portably, you should choose the .zip version of the xampp portable version. I would not choose the installer.

for example: xampp-portable-win32-1.8.3-4-VC11.zip

Awesome/excellent!

Will try either/or/both of those alternatives, and will also be passing this thread on to one of the blind/visually impaired-specific mailing lists, since the issue with the later versions of the installer has come up a few times in those discussion forums.
