Apache Friends Support Forum

I have installed XAMPP and the Apache and My SQL Modules are running according to Control Panel v3.2.1. However, when I try to access to localhost, IE says "This page can’t be displayed", and Google Chrome "This page is not available".

I have :
- Windows 8.1 Pro
- McAfee, which handles my Firewall. Turning it off for 15 minutes did not solve the problem
- Skype. Trying changing localhost port from 80 to 81 in htppd.conf and stopping and starting Apache does not seem to work. I have also disabled the option in Skype of "Use port 80 and 443 for additional incoming connections"

I have read previous postings in forums and I am sorry for this basic question, but I ran out of ideas at this point. So, any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Go back and tell Skype to not use those ports, stop Apache, reset to port 80, start apache and try again. Show the logs/log window, etc. If you insist on changing port to 81, make sure you tell the browser you want to use that port like http://localhost:81/. Also, just in case, try http://127.0.0.1/

Skype do not use those ports since long time ago. I have restarted windows and Apache several times. So, this did not solve the issue.

Trying http://localhost:81/and http://127.0.0.1/ did not solve the issue neither.

Please let me know if you want me to try something else.

As you can see, this entry is from 29th of June 2014 (at least more than five weeks ago) and it looks like you were running on port 1337?! (http://localhost:1337/xampp)

Did you forget to tell us something? Where is port 1337 coming from (this is NOT part of a new Xampp installation).
