MySQL Service detected with wrong path

I am hoping that someone out there will be able explain what the problem is, and to point me in the right direction to be able to solve it.
The following is a copy of what I get whenever I run XAMPP.
19:23:32 [main] Initializing Control Panel
19:23:32 [main] Windows Version: Windows XP SP3 32-bit
19:23:32 [main] XAMPP Version: 1.8.2
19:23:32 [main] Control Panel Version: 3.2.1 [ Compiled: May 7th 2013 ]
19:23:32 [main] Running with Administrator rights - good!
19:23:32 [main] XAMPP Installation Directory: "c:\xampp\"
19:23:32 [main] Checking for prerequisites
19:23:32 [main] All prerequisites found
19:23:32 [main] Initializing Modules
19:23:32 [mysql] MySQL Service detected with wrong path
19:23:32 [mysql] Change XAMPP MySQL and Control Panel settings or
19:23:32 [mysql] Uninstall/disable the other service manually first
19:23:32 [mysql] Found Path: C:\xampp\mysql\bin\mysqld --defaults-file=C:\xampp\mysql\bin\my.ini mysql
19:23:32 [mysql] Expected Path: c:\xampp\mysql\bin\mysqld.exe --defaults-file=c:\xampp\mysql\bin\my.ini mysql
19:23:32 [mysql] XAMPP MySQL is already running on port 3306
19:23:32 [main] The FileZilla module is disabled
19:23:32 [main] The Mercury module is disabled
19:23:32 [main] The Tomcat module is disabled
19:23:32 [main] Starting Check-Timer
19:23:32 [main] Control Panel Ready
The problem is as per the "Subject" of this post
